Having a quiet and peaceful place in which to meditate is a vital part of the experience. Meditation is a wonderful tool that can be used to heal your soul, clear your head, and help in manifesting your desires. However, if you want to get the most out of your sessions, you will need to be in a place with good energy and tranquillity!
Creating a sacred space to meditate in is the best way to ensure this. It doesn’t have to be a large space – if you can’t spare a whole room, even a dedicated corner will do. Choosing a specific space to meditate in will encourage you to meditate more often, and also to leave stress, thoughts about work and other issues at the door before you begin. Here’s how to create your own sacred space in just a few easy steps.
#1: Choose a Space
As mentioned above, your sacred space does not have to be large. It can be a scullery, the corner of a room, or simply a patch of garden you love. Your space can be anywhere you want it to be, but ideally in a spot that is peaceful and quiet. On the other hand, if you do have a whole room to spare, you can always decorate it accordingly and have your very own meditation room.
#2: Select Your Décor
The trick to creating a sacred meditative space is to go easy on the decoration. Of course, you should decorate it however makes you feel happy and at peace, but studies have shown that cluttered and busy rooms can be distracting and stressful, which is the opposite of what you want. Speaking of distractions, leave your blackjack NZ games at the door too!
Choose pieces that inspire you and revive your energy, as well as those that have significant meaning to you. Crystals, feathers, plants, dream catchers and wind chimes are all wonderful, cost effective options. Some people also love singing bowls, shells, and unique natural items that they have found on their travels.
Remember to also choose colour schemes that you find soothing, and to invest in a meditation cushion, mat, bench or rug. An essential oil burner or scented candles can also assist in creating an inviting ambience and helping you to get into the flow.
#3: Clear Your Space
It’s essential to clear the energy from your sacred space and imbue it with your own healing energy before you start meditating there. You can energetically clear your spot by burning white sage, using rock salt, or any other method you prefer. Essential oils, crystal healing bowls, incense and drums may also be helpful.
#4: Set Your Intentions
Now that your dedicated space is ready, set some intentions for what you want it to bring you. You can thank the universe or your guides for a beautiful, relaxing space, and set an intention to recharge there and get in touch with your higher self.
#5: Use Your Space Often
Those who meditate say that they feel best when they do so every day without fail. Now that you have your space, use it as often as you can to heal, manifest, and restore your peace!
